If
you're a fair weather fisherman who likes to pull in big fresh from the ocean
fish, this is the one for you. Catch the last of Oregon's summer weather
with mild days, typically in the 70's and 80's, along with some of the
greatest salmon fishing in the northwest.
It's also a wonderful
time to enjoy the scenery along Oregon's north coast and the beauty and
expanse of the lower Columbia River. This area is often referred to as Buoy
10.
Fishing here can be phenomenal for Chinook and Coho salmon during the fall
season, and limits are not uncommon.

(September 12 - December 30)

In early September big Chinook salmon begin to
make their showing in Tillamook Bay. Commonly referred to as Tillamook Hogs,
these fish will weight upwards of 30 to 50 pounds each and are the prize of
any angler.
Here anglers fish from the comfort of a
heated 21½-foot Alumaweld boat
with a 200hp Mercury outboard.
Rivers along the Oregon coast begin to see
increasing numbers of fall Chinook in October along with
the first fall rains. This is the time we break out our 18-foot drift boat
and float productive rivers like the Wilson, Trask, Nehalem, Necanicum and
Nestucca.

Fishing during the spring doesn't get much
better than this, warm days and lots of fish. Add in the chance of hooking a
15 to 30 pound Chinook and you'll wind up with a fantastic trip
not soon to be forgotten.
The Columbia, Willamette and Clackamas rivers,
turn on for spring Chinook in April with good fishing available through
June. On the Columbia, Clackmas and Willamette rivers we utilize our
24 foot Willie Raptor boat.

The weather can be a bit challenging but the
rewards are great for those willing to brave occasional rain and cooler
temperatures.
Winter steelhead will put up a fantastic
battle, at times leaping far into the air. It's just one of the reasons they
are one of Oregon's most sought after fish.
Steelhead fishing trips are provided in our
19-foot Willie drift boat where we float productive rivers like the Wilson, Trask,
Nehalem, Necanicum and Nestucca in search of winter steelhead. |
